Lily Laskine harp competition
Lily Laskine is a major figure in the french harp world. First woman to be admitted in the Orchestre de l'Opéra when she was only 16, first harpist of the Orchestre national de France when it was founded in 1934, Lily Laskine left us many recordings, including a famous collaboration with Jean-Pierre Rampal on Mozart's Flute and harp concerto, and was an inspiration for many composers who wrote major pieces for her.
The Lily Laskine harp competition was created in 1993, the year that would have celebrated Lily Laskine's 100th anniversary, by her pupil Bertile Fournier, famous harpist french people remember from her 37 years long commitment to the Orchestre Lamoureux. Through the competition and the foundation of the Association of Lily Laskine's friends, she tried to pursue Lily Laskine's engagement to help young harpists to start their carrier.
This competition quickly expands to find its place among the Bloomington and Tel Aviv's great international harp competitions. The Lily Laskine harp competition has a particularity, though : the existence, concurrently with the main competition, of a Junior competition for harpists under 16 years old.
We are proud to announce today the eighth edition of the Lily Laskine harp competition. It will take place in Paris from October 20th to 27th, 2014.
