Born in Osaka (Japan) in 1977, Mako Okamoto studied at the Music Academy in Fribourg (Germany) with Michel Béroff, then at the Cologne Academy with Pavel Gililov where she was on the postgraduate programme «Konzertexamen». Since 2005, she has been teaching at the Kyoto University of Arts. She participated in several international competitions and granted awards: Epinal (first prize – 1999), Long-Thibaud (sixth prize - 2001) and Queen Elisabeth (finalist - 2003). She gave concerts in Asia, Europe and recorded in 2005 her first CD (Douze Études from Debussy for the Salycus German label).
